download the latest version of SMAPI from nexus mods using the "manual download" option. extract the zipped file and run the installer for whichever operating system you have (linux, macOS, or windows). in the command window, press 1 and hit enter, then press 1 again. SMAPI should now be installed!

if you want to uninstall SMAPI, you can come back to the installer and press 2 on the first prompt

if you want to save SMAPI to a different folder than what's suggested, press 2 when prompted. only do this if you know what you're doing because it can mess up routing/reading for mods
